Thanks for your question. Age is not a factor when thinking of undergoing rhinoplasty procedure. Health is an important factor. You must be cleared by your primary physician before undergoing any type of elective plastic surgery. All the best,Dr. ResultsMiami, FL
There really is no problem with a rhinoplasty in a patient with diabetes. Physiologically, the procedures fairly benign. Infections with rhinoplasty are almost unheard of. You look as though you'd get a good result from the procedure. Consider video imaging to get some idea of what you like
As long as your blood sugars are well controlled and your are otherwise healthy without any cardiovascular risks you should be able to have a safe rhinoplasty performed.
Your age is ok, most doctors would like an EKG done as well as blood work to determine your health prior to surgery. And if the diabetes is under control I wouldn't see a problem, some doctors may ask you to get clearance from your primary care doctor. Best of luck.
A rhinoplasty can be performed on someone your age. You would have to get medical clearance and would need to make sure that your medical issues are under control.
65 years old is not too old to undergo a rhinoplasty procedure. As long as your blood sugars are under good control and you have medical clearance from your primary care physician, there should be no issues. We have performed rhinoplasty on many diabetics
Hello Joyce,When it comes to the nose there really is no limitations on age as long as you are healthy. For children there are more concerns so that you don't affect the growth of the nose and surrounding areas which is why most will defer rhinoplasty until the completion of puberty but there is no upper age limit. Being a diabetic, as I'm sure you know since you made the comment, can affect your wound healing. It will be very important in the post operative and pre operative period to make sure your glucose is under control. With regards to being unusual, there is nothing unusual about your age and rhinoplasty. The nose is a structure that continues to change throughout life even without trauma. It tends to elongate and drop (become ptotic). A minor trauma causing a septal deviation can worsen throughout life and so what may not have bothered you earlier in life may now be causing obstruction. It is very common to undergo a rhinoplasty if it is bothering you or if you are having difficulty breathing. Good luck!
Your age will not interfere with having rhinoplasty surgery; I've done this peration many times on patients older than you. As long as your blood sugar is controlled you can have a successful operation.
I would not recommend a full rhinoplasty because I don't see the need. I would raise the tip to a fair degree, which involves removing cartilage and undermining skin. The tip cartilages may need to be reduced too. You'd have quicker healing with less risk.you would medical clearance preop. Age is not rare and often done in conjuction with facelift
Great question! In fact, many medical students ask me this same question. An open roof deformity is just that, like an open roof. Think about it this way, if you live in a house the roof is shaped like a peak (just like your nose). If you then draped a big huge blanket over your roof, it...
If your height has not changed in a year, then its a good bet that your nose has stopped growing too. So you can have that nose fixed, if that's what you want.
The procedure that you likely need is a septorhinoplasty, which is surgically fixing the internal and external aspects of the nose. The parts of the surgery that improve your breathing will likely be covered by insurance, and your insurance company will likely make that known prior to any...
