Sorry this has happened. The appearance from the photo is that of a keloid scar. You would be wise to consult with an experienced board certified cosmetic dermatologist scar specialist to discuss appropriate treatment, which typically takes the form of employing intralesional injections of an algorithm of varying combinations, concentrations and amounts of anti-inflammatory agents, to shrink, flatten and reduce the color of the scar. Surgically excising keloid scars runs the risk, especially in people who have demonstrated a tendency to develop keloids, for the redevelopment of keloids perhaps even larger and more unsightly. A variety of anti-inlammatory agents, alone or in varying combinations, concentrations and amounts, have proven efficacy for shrinking and flattening these kinds of scars and blanching them, as well, so that the final scar is much less visible.
