Hi, this past summer I had a scar excision done for an atrophic scar on my temple. However, there were a number of complications, and now I am left with a scar that seems worse than the original. First, the original sutures failed because of dehiscence. Then a few months later, I had three large suture abscesses along the incision line as the buried Vicryl stitches became inflamed. These suture abscesses have left me with three new atrophic scars. Any advice on if another excision would help?

Dear J.ka,
it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.

Hi, great question. I agree with your surgeon - I would also recommend a scar revision/ release under local. I don't think other non-invasive modalities would help.
