Dear Passionate51120, thanks for sharing your question.this needs to be determine thorough examination by your neurologist and get a clearence. After that Make sure you go on consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon. Hope this helps and best of lucks. Dr. Luis Mejia.
Dear Passionate51120,it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. You will need to get a clearance from your neurologist. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Safe is a relative term. The biggest risk for having a stroke is having had a previous stroke.Generally speaking no elective surgery should be done within 12 months of having a stroke. You are definitely at increased for having postoperative complications, including mortality. The relative risk needs to be assessed by someone who understands the entirety of your medical history, including the underlying reason why you had a stroke in the first place.I’m guessing many plastic surgeons will say no, but some might be willing to do the procedure. You will for sure need clearance from your neurologist, so you may as well ask your neurologist first if they think it’s a good idea for you to have cosmetic surgery. You should also confirm that you’re a good candidate for a BBL in the first place. There’s no sense in doing a potentially high-risk procedure if there is benefit.Wanting a BBL doesn’t mean you’re a good candidate for a BBL. And that sense it wouldn’t be a bad idea to have a few in person consultations with plastic surgeons in your communities to get an assessment regarding your candidacy for the procedure. At the time you can also inquire about that individual physicians view, undoing the procedure based on your medical history.Best,Mats Hagstrom, MD
