Crohn's disease and BBL?

Question

Hi, looking to get a BBL however I'm currently suffering from a perianal fistula as a Crohn's disease patient. Am I still able to get the procedure done? is it safe?

An active perianal fistula with Crohn disease is a major reason to be cautious about BBL and liposuction. It does not necessarily mean you can never have cosmetic surgery, but it should not be considered safe to proceed while the fistula is active, infected, draining, or while your Crohn disease is not well controlled.

Before any BBL, you would need clearance from your gastroenterologist and often your colorectal surgeon, with attention to current medications such as steroids, biologics, or immune-suppressing drugs, nutrition, anemia, infection risk, and wound-healing risk. BBL and liposuction involve multiple incisions, fluid shifts, and recovery positioning, and Crohn disease can increase the risk of infection and delayed healing. In many cases the safest plan is to delay elective surgery until the fistula has healed or is very well controlled and your specialists agree that the timing is reasonable.

Each plastic surgeon, well macaron determination regarding your candidacy for the procedure.
There are a few variables to take the consideration.
Are you on immunosuppressive medication for the condition? The other would be contamination during surgery.
To get a good assessment regarding your candidacy, including a discussion about the implications of your medical condition I suggest scheduling multiple in person consultations with plastic surgeons in your community who have a proven track record with the BBL procedure.
 I generally do not recommend people rely on virtual consultations and make the effort to meet the surgeons in person before selecting a provider.
Delivering consistent Liposuction and fat transfer results is more difficult than most people realize.
The number of providers who mastered this procedure is quite small.
Likewise, not everybody seeking a BBL is a good candidate for the procedure, so there are a lot of other variables to consider as well.
