Bulging veins on the side of my temple after voluma. Do I need a touch up to try and hide it or have the filler removed?

I had voluma in my temples almost a week ago. Now I have bulging veins on the left side of my temple. Do I go get a touch up to try and hide it or will that make it worse? Or should I just have the filler removed? I really don't know what to do and I really don't want to make a mistake. Is this dangerous? It really scares me and I just want to look normal but this is my first experience with any filler.

Temporarily enlarged veins are common after temple filler injections. These tend to resolve/improve within few weeks. In any case, I recommend that you see your doctor and review your concerns.

Thank you for your question. This is a common problem, especially in the temple region, with its network of veins.  I find that fillers do work well in this region to help mask veins by adding volume through both the filler, and the water it absorbs, pushing veins deeper into the skin and making them less noticeable. It does not occur immediately, results tend to take a couple of weeks for best effect, but it is an option for improvement.  In my opinion I would allow more time to pass before deciding on a course of action

I suggest you speak to your physician.  This may take 1-2 weeks to resolve and if it doesn't then you could consider reversing the filler.  It should not harm you in anyway.  Best, Dr. Emer.

I tell my patients to expect this and it will go away after a week or two.  Often times, the patients hadn't noticed this before and it is the same as it was before.  It is not dangerous.  If you want to reduce the size, this can be done with a 1064 laser (Excel V).  It is caused by slightly increased pressure in the vessel from the filler pushing on it.
