What is best when having breast redone with silicone implants and internal bra Galaflex, Seris scaffold or strattice which one has been on the market longest and has had the best consumer reviews. Will one last longer than the other when supporting the implant?
Answer: Internal bra options: Strattice, SERI Scaffold, or GalaFLEX I have used all three products and each has particular benefits and limitations, though for many situations any of them would work well. Strattice has been on the market for several years, which is why there are more reviews, while the other products are very new on the market and there is limited long-term data. Strattice adds immediate coverage and support but is expensive. Both SERI and Gala absorb slowly and are replaced by your body's own collagen, which is believed to result in a stable long-term tissue layer. Because they are meshes, they are essentially fabrics which can be shaped more easily than ADM's like Strattice. A lot will depend on your particular circumstance and your surgeon's judgment and experience.

CONTACT NOW Answer: Surgeons have difference preferences Although Strattice has been around longer than most of the other products that you mention, it's important to understand that each product has its own limitations and characteristics. Although, based on their personal experience and the level of product support that surgeons have seen from the product manufacturers, they may more more or less likely to recommend a particular product over another. There are very few good studies that compare these products head-to-head, so it is impossible to call one product the "best."The most important thing is to discuss your needs, wishes, recovery time constraints, and budget limits with an honest and experienced surgeon, and receive bias-free personal advice. ALWAYS consult a surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, to ensure the highest standards of ethical practice and safe surgery.Reza Momeni, MD FACS * The above commentary is not personal medical advice, and is intended for general education on the internet.

Answer: Product options when having breast redone with Silicone Implants & internal bra Galaflex, Seri Surgical Scaffold, or Strattice. Galaflex, Seri Surgical Scaffold, and Strattice are all implantable surgical products which can be used to help support a breast or breast implant. These produces can be used in breast reconstruction after mastectomy, or as a supportive aid to breast lift, breast augmentation, or breast reduction. Galaflex is an resorbable mesh product which will maintain 70% of it's strength for 12 weeks and then is resorb by the body by 12 to 18 months.Seri Surgical Scaffold is a knitted, long-term bioresorbable product made from silk. Stattice is an acellular tissue matrix derived from pig skin. This matrix is eventually incorporated into the host tissue and aids in strength and support. Each of these products are reasonable products to use to help support a breast implant. Of the three, The Seri Scafford has the least amount of elasticity or stretch and may offer the strongest support. This may or may not be an advantage in your particular case. Check with your plastic surgeon to see which option they may feel will best suit your situation. Best wishes, Dr Lepore.
