Last year I went to my doctor because my left breast was bothering turns out I have a benign cysts. I've been thinking about removing the implants because I don't want the cyst to turn into a cancerous cyst. Will it be safe to remove them and remove the cyst? And because I would b flat chested can I do fat graft to the breast? Can all that be done at the same time and what may be the price?

Answer: Would it be smart to remove my breast implants and just do fat graft to my breasts instead? Thank you for sharing your question. I suppose the best information would be to have a sit down conversation with your breast and plastic surgeon to determine the best course of action. Having implants will not cause the benign cysts to turn cancerous while the decision to have fat grafting should be tempered based on any risks factors for breast cancer development. Hope this helps.

Answer: Cystic breasts, implants, and fat transfer to the breast. should you take out the implants and change to fat transfer? Cystic breasts are common. Implants do not cause breast cancer. There are some studies which indicate implants may impair mammograms ability to image the breast, particularly if the implant is placed in front of the muscle. I would not recommend removal of the implant and fat grafting. Fat transfer to the breast is tricky, and if the fat does not implant and get a new blood supply, it can form cysts, fat necrosis (little hard balls of fat), or microcalcifications (which is what mammograms look at to detect cancer).
