Your surgeon will advise what is recommended for you to wear after your surgery. Generally patients may wear compression or some sort of surgical bra. I prefer my patients wear compression for about two weeks post op, but this will vary by patient circumstances.
hello Destiny007 Dressings: These will vary from patient to patient. Some patients may be placed in a bra; others will wear an elastic bandage. Your doctor will decide after surgery and in subsequent weeks, which dressing will suit your needs. #explnt #ache
Thank you for sharing your excellent question. I do recommend a sports bra for a small amount of compression to the tissues to help minimize fluid collection development and to encourage skin shrinkage. As for the pain in your back that is more difficult to say. It may be your resting position or time in the OR, the result of muscle spasms, poorly fitting garment, etc. I would talk to your surgeon about your concerns, they can best offer advice.
Pain or aching in the center of the back after breast explant or lift surgery can be due to several reasons:1. Posture Changes: After surgery, patients may unconsciously alter their posture to accommodate the healing process or due to discomfort, which can strain the muscles in the center of the back.2. Muscle Tension: Surgery, especially involving the chest area, can lead to muscle tension and soreness in surrounding areas, including the back.3. Compression Garments: If compression garments are worn post-surgery, they can sometimes affect posture or cause discomfort if not fitted properly.4. Activity Levels: Changes in physical activity or restrictions following surgery can contribute to muscle stiffness or soreness in the back.Regarding wearing a sports bra post-surgery, it's typically recommended by plastic surgeons for support and to minimize movement during the initial healing period. However, the type and duration of wearing a sports bra can vary based on individual recovery progress and specific surgical instructions provided by the plastic surgeon. Always follow your plastic surgeon's recommendations regarding post-operative care, including the use of compression garments or bras, to ensure optimal healing and comfort.
The ace wrap can cause back pain. I recommend my patients wear a sports bra for several weeks following surgery. This will expedite the healing process.
