Is there a way to inject filler to create a lip lift effect?

I'd like to create the appearance of a slightly shorter upper lip without having to undergo surgery. Can fillers be used either in the philtral columns or perhaps around the base of the nose to create this effect?

It depends. Sometimes we can do that. If you have a favorable lip we can sometimes lift with filler - though often a small lip lift is preferable.

Thank you for your question.Fillers added to the lip can create overall volume and can change the shape depending on how much has been injected. To be sure what is best for you, see two or more board-certified providers in your area for a
complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for
you to have treatment.

HA fillers have many potential effects on the lips. They serve to offer more lip shape, fullness, pout, or a more defined border. Generally speaking, a "lift" of the upper lip is not something that comes from filler injection. Depending on your desires and exam, you might be a candidate for a lip lift procedure, but this would require minor surgery.Your best bet would be to have a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon and discuss your options. It would be best to avoid fillers and seek a facial plastic surgeon to evaluate you for a lip lift. We use Belotero and Juvederm in our Williamsville NY office as lip fillers.

Lip fillers will add volume and change the shape a bit but will not shorten the overall lip.  Best of luck. You probably then will need a lip lift with an incision under the nostril sill.
