Help: Bruising after lip filler won't go away. (photo)

Bruising after injections can be disappointing side effect of the treatment. Even in the best injectors hands, bruises can occur. That said, if its a bruise (without an exam its hard be certain,but certainly looks like one) it will go away. Two possible ways to quicken the process--Arnica cream can be beneficial in speeding things up-Laser treatments (Pulsed dye, Nd Yag) or IPL can help to break bruising up .I would recommend contacting your injector to have a thorough exam as well as discuss the options to speed things along.

If you do not see an improvement with your bruising after two weeks, contact your provider for a follow up appointment to discuss your concerns. To be sure, see two or more board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment.I hope this helps.

It is common to get swelling and bruising after fillers into the lips. It is not normal to have irregularities or severe swelling or bruising that does not resolve. Bruising can take 2 weeks to resolve.  To speed the healing, consider a laser treatment with pulsed dye laser (VBEAM) or excel V.  As well as oral vitamin C and Arnika Forte.  For the next injections, consider Restylane Silk with cannula injection, this technique will limit the pain, swelling or bruising after the filler placement.  Find an expert in filler injections for your future treatments. Thank you for your question.Bruising with #LipAugmentation and #fillers is rare but can occur.  It is more likely if patients are on blood thinners such as aspirin, advil and many herbal medicines.  Bruises can last 7-10 days on average so I would continue to be patient.To help reducing #bruising with my lip augmentation with fillers, I use the cannula technique.  It is not sharp and the risk of bruising is lesser... but it is more technically and artistically demanding.If the bruising has not disappeared by 2 weeks time, go back to your injector for an assessment.Hope this reassures you.

after your injection. The good news is that it will go away and it may take
upwards of two weeks in some for this to fade. At this point, we would
recommend the use of the pulsed dye laser – either the V Beam from Candela or
the Cynergy from Cynosure – these are the best devices for this and have shown
how fast they can make these types of bruises go away. In our office we have
also used the Aerolase Neo laser – a 1064 nm short pulsed system that works
very well on bruises and other vascular lesions. You need to consult with a board-certified
dermatologist or plastic surgeon to learn your treatment options – and to have
your future injections performed in these offices as we are the experts in
injecting and how to best handle any adverse events. Many will also recommend
and use Arnica in some form – it cannot hurt but may not help in many – but is
still used a lot in these circumstances. Get the help you need with the right
provider at this point.
