I had shy of 3000 grafts 7 weeks ago (April 17, 2018) and my Girl friend said she does not see any holes apparent in the thin spots. Are they covered over and will pop through later? I have been reading that it is due to shock in the donor area and will take up to 3-6 months. The scars do not help im sure from previous FUT. Thanks
Answer: Normal at 7 weeks? There is obviously global thinning in the donor area, the question is whether this is due to “shock loss”,overharvesting or a combination of both.I am a little concerned about overharvesting as you had a large FUE (>3000) and several prior strips. At this point only time will tell, and that could take another 3-6 months to declare itself.

Answer: Over harversting from FUE can be an issue and cause the patchy appearance. It may also be due to shock hair loss. Over harvesting from FUE can be an issue and cause the patchy appearance. It may also be due to shock hair loss. It may take 6 to 12 months to see growth if there was shock hair loss.

Answer: Progress While shock loss could be present, as another doc mentioned, it could have been over-harvesting which will prove to be the case if it does not resolve in the coming months. If that ends up happening you can consider SMP which we do all the time for this indication when patients consult us for this issue. It can also fill in the scars too!

Answer: Shock loss post procedure THe donor region was thin to begin with having a previous FUT procedure. After another procedure that has been some shock loss and it will take time for hair to regrow. Using medication, topical creams and PRP can help with hair thickness and density.
