If you see actual grafts falling out then it will not grow for obvious reasons. If you believe you are losing grafts it is best to see your doctor for a check.
It is not unusual for grafted hair and/or some untransplanted hair to shed at this point forward.By now the grafts are firmly embedded in the scalp and growth should start in another 2-3 months.
As your surgeon should have informed you this is a normal process. They should regrow. For 11 days post op you have too many scabs on your head. My post op advice is to gently shampoo the follicles from day 1 to prevent scabbing. Not doing this has been proven to effect survival.
Transplanted graft’s hair starts to shedding in the first week of surgery and may go on untill 4-6 th weeks after surgery. İt is not surprising to lost approx. %70-80 of all transplanted hair shafts in first month when you are washing, gently rubbing or touching the head. İt is shock loss and not permanent. Even your native hair may affected with that post traumatic transient hair loss…New hair at transplant and donor area starts to grow at 3-4 th month after surgery .
Hopefully your surgeon let you know that most grafts will probably fall out between a week and two months following your transplant. This is normal and they should start to grow back in the next several months. Unrelated but make sure you are washing your head correctly, most scabs/crusts should be gone within 10 days, 14 days max.
Shedding of the transplanted hair is perfectly normal after a hair transplant procedure and will occur anywhere from weeks 2 to 6 post op. Continue to follow your doctors post op care instructions and happy growing!
What you are seeing is the shedding of the crusts which should have been washed off the day of and the day after the surgery. Just use shampoo and gently rub these with your finger tips, but do not do it hard of you could force the grafts out
Wearing tight head bands for long time and repetitive touching of recipient area is probably not a good idea. You need to check with your doctor if you are having issues.
Transplanted hairs fall out in a few weeks. New hairs will grow out in 6 to 12 months. You may see some growth at 3 to 4 month. Sometimes shedding hairs may have a bent shape.
If you are concerned about bumping your head after surgery it may be best to see your doctor for a follow up. In general it should be fine.
If you have a genetic disposition for accelerated hair loss shock loss may happen. Shock loss is not reversible.
It is best to ask your surgeon about post operative care as each doctor has their unique regimen.
In theory you can donor hair can be harvested from any part of the body with hair but in practice it may not be practical. If you want to explore this option it is best to discuss with your doctor.
