Hi, I was wondering, I know leg or other body hair isn't usually recommended for a HT, but if someone had thicker leg hair and of a decent length, along with thick chest hair, is it not possible to have a high amount of hair transplanted if some one just desires to have very short hair, of like a size 1 or 2 buzzcut?

Answer: Body Hair to Scalp Sure transplanting any hair from one area to another is theoretically possible. However it's very unlikely that body/leg hair would blend in well with the rest of your head, not to mention if hair is taken from these areas the scars that remain will be very visible compared to the back of the head, where remaining hair can cover the scars.

Answer: Hair transplant Thank you for asking the question. Theoretically body hair is an option for doing hair-transplant and if the patient has good density chest and leg hair then yes, theoretically the leg and chest hair can be taken by FUE technique and be implanted into the recipient area. However, our personal preference has always been back of the scalp because that matches exactly the texture of the recipient area and blends very-well. If you want to use chest and leg hair then it is better to mix them along with scalp hair. If you use body-hair in isolation then in most situations it is quite clearly visible as something having been done. You can keep any length of the hair which is your personal preference. However, just chest, leg or body-hair even if it is short will be clearly visible that it is different from the scalp hair and therefore there is a chance of been made-out. Regards, Dr. Amit Gupta
