Answer: Shock Loss Shock loss is something that can happen after a hair transplant surgery. It occurs when the existing hair in the recipient and donor areas are weak and cannot sustain against the trauma of surgery. Typically, these hairs grow back in the next phase of hair growth. That time can differ from person to person. Anywhere from 2-6 months is normal. Sometimes, the loss can be permanent. If the hairs were on their way out (meaning, they were due to fall out soon anyways) then it is possible you have new hair loss in those areas. That is why I always stress the importance of maintaining and protecting your hair to the best of your ability. This can be done with PRP therapy, laser therapy, and the use of medications and minoxidil products as well as shampoos. When these items of medical management are done in conjunction with surgery, we see increased results. That being said, it is possible that the surgery was unsuccessful. Without knowing where you had the surgery, what type of surgery you had, and how many grafts were transplanted, its hard to determine what is causing the new hair loss. Keep in mind that it does take about 6 months – 1 year to see the results of a hair transplant surgery. So, over the next few months you should see the areas filling in. If this is not the case, this is when you should consider meeting with other certified hair transplant surgeons with experience for second and third opinions on your case.

Answer: Hair transplant It is much too early to judge your result. At 6 months you will be at only about 50% growth, at 12 months you will be at roughly 90% growth. Remain patient and continue to follow your doctors post op care instructions.

Answer: Shock Loss I will give it more time. At times it takes more than 6 months for the patients to see their full result and if you had some shock loss you would be worse than where you started. Please be patients and stay in touch with your original doctor.

Answer: Shock loss after 6 months Transplanted graft’s hair starts to shedding in the first week of surgery and may go on untill 4-6 th weeks after surgery. İt is not surprising to lost approx. %70-80 of all transplanted hair shafts in first month when you are washing, gently rubbing or touching the head. İt is shock loss and not permanent. Even your native hair may affected with that post traumatic transient hair loss…New hair at transplant and donor area starts to grow at 3-4 th month after surgery . we dont expect to see shock loss 6 months after surgery .
