Answer: Bulimia Vs. General Anesthetic and 2 procedures Before scheduling your surgery is advisable to consult with your psychologist or psychiatrist to assess whether they is the right time for you to have plastic surgery. Bulimia does not make the general anesthesia more dangerous for you than for other patients who do not suffer this eating disorder. What worries me is that considering the hassle of breast surgery combined with the discomfort of the nose, your post op may get you into an acute anxiety state.

Answer: Is bulimia a risk for general anesthesia and breast surgery. Thank you for your important question. In my opinion it is very important that both your plastic surgeon and mental health professional be in direct communication about your bulimia. It is very important that your blood work, weight and general physical health have recovered to normal and that your eating habits have stabilized for at least a year after your last bulimic episode before considering elective plastic surgery. If your physical health and blood work is normal I doubt that general anesthetic poses and unusual risk based on your past history of bulimia.

Answer: General anesthesia Provided that your preoperative labwork and examination are normal, you should not be at any increased risk for general anesthesia. While the anesthesia is considered in general "safe", there is always a small risk of complication, even serious ones, and you never know ahead of time which patient may have a complication.
