Nose Greasy and Oily a Year and a Half After Open Rhinoplasty Normal?

My nose still looks oily and shiny a year and a half after open rhinoplasty. Any ideas what I can do to resolve this?

Although there is no clear evidence of this ... I find smoking to be detrimental to natural healing of nasal lining and I recommend to my patients that they should either give up smoking during the peri-operative period or use alternatives where the nose in not exposed to the noxious elements...

It depends on whether your fracture is displaced or if it broke and then the pieces remained in the same pre-injury location.  If they are displaced, it could be that you are actually seeing the bone fragment sticking up.  Without x-rays and an exam, it is impossible to tell you for sure.

It is true that it takes up to a year for the final result of rhinoplasty to become apparent and this is even more so the case in patients with thicker skin From the photos I think this would apply to you and it may take that long for the skin on the tip of the nose to fully adjust post...
