I'm 17 day post op. Before I had an O shape belly button & now it looks sad. My surgeon is very reputable, but I can't help to want a second opinion. I did speak with him about my concerns & he said that taking out the fat, deflated the area around the belly button and it can only be repaired w/exercise and radio frequency. Will my belly button go back to normal? Do I really need to spend money on radio frequency?
Answer: Ah, the belly button For what is essentially a scar, there's a ton written about it and worried over. I know your belly button is different from your preop belly button but it looks pretty normal to me. I wouldn't fixate over it.

Answer: Belly button Great question! First off, you are only 17 days after surgery - there is still alot of changes your body will undergo for the next several months so I would not worry about it at the moment. Secondarily, I always tell my patients that liposuction is like deflating a balloon - often times there can be looser skin afterwards as liposuction is only a volume procedure and not a skin procedure. If it tightens up, then amazing, but don't count on it. The reason your belly button looks "sad" is because now you have loose skin that is "hanging over" the belly button. Again this can all change and improve over the next several month. If it bothers you enough after everything has healed and settled, then you could benefit from a skin tightening laser such as radio frequency.Best of luck and hope this information helps!- Dr. Roger Tsai @DrRogerTsaiBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Belly button Dear mariah1984007I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a BBL surgery. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively. At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues are still swollen. Once the swelling subsides you will be able to see the final result of your surgery.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
