For those plastic surgeons who charge extra for each additional area of lipo during a BBL, are the arms and the thighs considered to be one area or is it each arm and then each thigh individually?

Dear Coley90,the cost of surgery depends on a lot of factors (type of surgery, number of treated areas, anesthesia fee, surgeon, facility fee, city, etc.). In LA area, BBL typically ranges from 8K-12K depending on how much liposuction needs to be done to get enough fat. Every practice has its own guidelines for surgery charges. In liposuction, areas like arms, thighs are priced together for both sides unless there is significant deformity on one side not present on other. The same applies for BBL; in most practices it include liposuction of abdomen, flanks and lower back as well as fat transfer to buttocks. However, some patients may need additional areas for fat harvest like thighs and arms and that may be included in BBL price? You have to check particular schedule fee for practice where you are going to have your surgery and discuss this in details so it comes in full on your consent form. Liposuction is typically priced by the number of areas involved:  in this case, it would be four.  You would have to ask the plastic surgeon with whom you consult about his or her prices. There is usually some economy of scale.

Charges incurred for procedures involving  liposuction, including fat grafting of the buttocks aka BBL, is based on the number of areas addressed which correlates with the amount of time it takes. Arms and legs are typically considered separate areas. I would focus less on trying to address the maximum number of areas but rather choose the areas that will make the most difference for your shape and acquire adequate volume for grafting.

Cost varies from surgeon to surgeon and depends on OR time, anesthesia, facility fees....In my practice, there is an additional charge for each additional area of liposuction like thighs or arms (not for each thigh or arm).Seek a board certified plastic surgeon who performs many of these procedures, has great reviews and photos, and is an expert in this field.

One of the keys is getting the necessary volume of fat and sometimes multiple sites are required.  The pricing can vary depending on the facility the surgeon works with and some will have rates based by time and others will have rates based by areas of surgery.  In our region most surgery centers charge by procedure and count each area as a separate procedure.  Visit with an expert in your area and discuss your questions to understand what costs may be associated for the procedure you desire.Best Wishes
