I went to my dermatologist last year for a body check and brought to their attention a dent that was more noticeable across my forehead (diagonal, beginning in the top left and coming down to the middle of my forehead). They thought it could be morphea and sent me to a specialist. This dent was noticeable in pictures dating back to 2017. It inflates with a vein below it. When the vein is puffed up the dent is gone. I'm seeking a doctor experienced with forehead filler and correcting this.
Answer: Filler would be good, fat would be better Hello, If after further workup regarding this problem shows no underlying disease that needs treatment, filler would be a good option. I recently took care of a patient with a similar issue that was from a skull fracture suffered during a car crash. Hers was much worse than yours and after a surgical procedure to improve the dent to roughly where yours is, she responded very well to filler placement and was very happy. She will likely undergo fat grafting in the future to permanently fill the area. That is what I would recommend for you. Try filler and if it works well for you, have fat grafting performed so you don't have to keep paying for filler and keep getting poked every year or two. Hope this helps! -Joshua Halka MD

Answer: For Forehead Indentations, Consider A Low Viscosity, Malleable, Cohesive HA Filler I routinely treat all kinds of depressions and indentations of the forehead using a low viscosity, malleable, cohesive HA filler in order to elevate and smooth them.. You would be wise to make sure to consult with a board certified, experienced, cosmetic dermatologist filler injector since the forehead is not an area for novice injectors accsustomed to only treating simple smile lines with ordinary Juvederm or plain Restylane. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Answer: Need to come in to consult For unique cases where a variety of modalities could be used to treat the condition, I would suggest an in-person or virtual consultation to develop a custom and effective treatment plan. It is difficult to precisely define the best option without collecting the same information. I suggest reaching out to an expert for a consultation with surgical and non-surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Microdroplet Silikon-1000 injections may be considered for permanent filling of a forehead indentation. Without a photo showing your condition, it is difficult to comment on the feasibility of microdroplet Silikon-1000 injections for permanent correction of a forehead indentation. If you're indentation is bony, Fillers may be helpful for correction. Please consider re-asking your question with pictures of your forehead. I hope this is helpful. Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Treatment Options for Forehead Dent with Visible Vein Thank you for reaching out with your concern about the forehead dent and the visible vein. Based on your description — where the dent becomes less noticeable when the vein is more prominent — it sounds like you may have a soft tissue depression related to minor volume loss or underlying anatomical features. The good news is that this can often be effectively treated with dermal fillers. Here’s a quick overview: Dermal Fillers can help by gently restoring volume beneath the skin, smoothing out the visible dent while maintaining a natural appearance. We would use a very soft, precise filler and advanced techniques (such as using a microcannula) to ensure safety and minimize any risk to the underlying vein. Results are immediate and typically last 9–12 months, depending on the product used and your individual healing process. An in-person assessment is very important to carefully map the vein and plan the treatment safely. In some cases, alternative treatments such as fat grafting or other skin rejuvenation options may also be discussed, but fillers are usually the first choice for mild to moderate cases like yours.
