I am about to get Restyline done on Friday, I do not take any medication and vitamins but I did take Ibuprofen on Monday due to a bad headache, does that mean that I should out it off for a week or two? I have an event on Saturday and do not want to be with bruises.
Answer: I always advise my patients to avoid ASA and ibuprofen for a week - 10 days prior to an injectable treatment. I always advise my patients to avoid ASA and ibuprofen for a week - 10 days prior to an injectable treatment. You could possibly bruise despite the ibuprofen. I would leave a week between injections and an event in case of possible bruising or inflammation. Best of Luck.

Answer: I wouldn't do Restylane before an important event ibuprofen or no... If you have an important event within 2 weeks of having Restylane you probably are going to bruise and wish you hadn't. That's just Murphy's rule. In reality, most of my patients don't bruise and I don't fear ibuprofen as much as things like true blood thinners. It is too much trouble for most patients to find a week that is aspirin free or ibuprofen free!Certainly, anything like a wedding or graduation is a good idea to avoid it and any other fillers within two weeks just to be sure. Good luck!

Answer: Fillers and Ibuprofen Go to someone that uses cannulas for injection, there is much less risk of bruising or swelling. You can get that procedure done safely without much less worry about an upcoming event. However, I still do not restrict my patients from using NSAIDS or Fish oil but do have them use Arnika Forte as bruising prevention. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Ibuprofen and filler injections I don't think that one dose of ibuprofen significantly raises the risk of bruising prior to injectable treatment. With that said, bruising is the most common risk of injectable treatments whether or not one has taken any anti-inflammatory medications. Your injector might feel differently but I would not re-schedule someone's filler treatment if they've had a single dose of ibuprofen. I hope this information is helpful for you.Stephen Weber MD, FACSDenver Facial Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Injection Bruising & Events Hi Leon. The problem with injection treatments, bruising and big events, is that your injector cannot accurately predict whether or not you will bruise for any one treatment. There is always a chance of bruising and in our practice about 25% of patients will have a bruise. The area of the face and the age, health and medications being used by the patient matter. The small dose of Ibuprofen 5 days earlier would not be as important to us as the fact that you are planning on attending a big event the day after the injections. This is a no-no in our practice and we advise 7-10 days before any big events and after injections.
