Body sculpting can be achieved with Coolsculpting alone, or in combination with tissue tightening and skin toning therapies such as Liposuction, Exilis Multiplane Tissue Tightening, Venus Legacy, Hidef Fractional laser, and the Brazilian Cellulite Treatment with Stretch Mark Laser. I would use Coolsculpting to address excess fat deposits as it is non-invasive tool that can re-establish body proportions to improve your body silhouette. We specialize in Hidef Liposuction options and Coolsculpting in our office, depending on a carefully curated protocol. Best, Dr. KaramanoukianRealself100 Surgeon
Having surgery after CoolSculpting should be fine, as long as you are not swollen. Because you don’t know what your reaction to the CoolSculpting procedure will be, I’d recommend getting your tubal ligation first and then proceeding with CoolSculpting after you’ve finished healing from the surgery. Be sure to consult a board-certified dermatologist who has experience using CoolSculpting on areas with scars, so you can avoid irritating your skin.
You most certainly can undergo a CoolSculpting treatment before your tubal ligation procedure. If you have any other questions or concerns about pairing the two procedures together, I recommend reaching out to your CoolSculpting specialist or your surgeon. Best of luck with both procedures!
I recommend discussing the timeline with your surgeon. Keep in mind, for best results with Coolsculpting, a combination approach is needed. I recommend adding radiofrequency treatments like Vanquish, Venus Legacy, Exilis Ultra for skin tightening and with Z wave/Cellutone for skin smoothing. However, a Vaser with ThermiRF procedure is the best combination for a toned result, but requires more downtime. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer
I would recommend that you discuss your plan, to have CoolSculpting a week before your tubal ligation, with the surgeon performing your tubal ligation. While I do not believe that CoolSculpting should affect results of your tubal ligation, and vice versa, if the area of the surgery is close enough to the area that is treated with CoolSculpting there could be an issue with performing the surgery.
Tubal ligations are done laparoscopically. As a Gynecologist I perform these procedures and there are usually three small incisions made. The incision may be near the area you are wanting the sculpted for that reason I would recommend having the tubal ligation first and allowing the incisions to heal prior to coolsculpting.
I would recommend contacting your surgeon before but I do not see any contraindication with having CoolSculpting to your abdomen 1 week prior to surgery.
There should be no issue with your tubal ligation a week later, the soreness will be minimal at that point from the Coolsculpting, just let your surgeon know you had the Coolsculpting prior to your surgery.
While the Coolsculpting will not effect the ability to perform the tubal ligation and the tubal ligation will not hinder the results of the Coolsculpting, you may be more comfortable to reverse the order so that the swelling and tenderness is not misinterpreted with any pain subsequent to the tubal ligation.
Remember that CS is a controlled (cold) injury to the skin and fat being treated. The incisions for the tubal ligation are another form of injury to the skin and fat. It would be best to keep these two forms of injury separated by 6 weeks so as to not get any issues like dimples or divots in the CS treated areas of the abdomen. If the incisions will not be in the same areas treated with CS, then Tubal one week later would be fine.Hope that helpsHarold Bautista, MD FACS
Thank you for your question. There are no contradictions to taking an antibiotic after Coolsculpting treatment. I only recommend avoiding taking NSAID’s after treatment because it inhibits the inflammation response we want with Coolsculpting. I hope this helps!
Thank you for your question. This sounds like it might be Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia (PAH). This is a rare occurrence when the fat increases in size. I recommend having a follow up with your treating physician for an evaluation and treatment. Best of Luck!
When CoolSculpting first came out, the applicator used suction to pull the fat into the treatment area and freeze it. So, therefore, we generally recommend you have some “pinchable” fat — about an inch or two of extra fat. However, Zeltiq came out with CoolAdvantage, which is a flat cooli...
