I’m going to Palm Springs and I plan to have some fillers and Botox while there. I will try to limit my sun exposure somewhat, but will be in the sun. Should I have this done at the end of my trip when I will only have a day or two left in the sun? Thanks
Answer: Fillers and Botox on a sunny vacation Hi there! Thank you for your query. I always advise my clients to avoid sun exposure for the 48 hours following Botox or filler treatment. Further to this I would strongly suggest you have treatment before or after your holiday so that you can go back to the same practitioner if you encounter any problems after treatment. Hope this helps! Dr Rupert

Answer: Injection during vacation Hi. Sun exposure should not affect your Botox and filler treatments. However, you should take potential bruising and swelling into consideration. Also, a follow up appointment with your injector should be planned.

Answer: Botox and filler treatment while away on vacation We want all patients to use sunscreen to prevent ultraviolet damage to their skin regardless of having Botox or fillers. Some dark skin types might be more prone to hyperpigmentation (darkening) if they bruise and then go in the sun without protection. It is always better if you have such treatment while away from home, to do it as soon as possible so that if you need adjustment you can see the same provider as it is more difficult for other providers to know exactly what was done and your revisionary treatment may be more expensive with a new doctor than if you went back to the original provider who may treat you for much less so that you see improvement. Very rarely some patients need multiple visits to correct overfilling and you may have no choice but to see a doctor once you return home after your trip. This is why I don't encourage such vacation treatments unless you can easily travel back to the original doctor if needed. The information provided in Dr. Shelton's answer is for educational purposes only and is not intended to constitute medical advice. Answer: Sun does not affect Botox But sun does affect skin quality! Make sure you're wearing good quality, high spf, broad spectrum sun block to maintain the surface of your skin. Recent research has revealed how not all sun block is created equal. It's important to make sure you're supporting your skin with quality ingredients that will limit the damage that can be caused on both the surface, and underneath the skin.

Answer: When to have treatment You may want to have the treatment earlier in your vacation in order to return to the injector if necessary. You my have bruising and swelling from your treatment, and it can persist up to two weeks. Be sure to wear sunscreen daily and limit sun exposure as much as possible.
