Is it normal to have purple/black bruises on the lips after a full lip tattoo? (photo)

I had my lips tattooed for the first time four days ago and I noticed now that there are purple/black bruises on my lips near the corners. Is this normal?

You are safe to return to normal activities after lip augmentation.  Though tanning beds are not recommended in general, they will not affect your lip augmentation result.

Your question is actually an excellent question.  The patient pays for a full syringe of product and then notices that there is an asymmetry.  Who is to cover the cost of this asymmetry?  In an ideal world, these and all other questions would be resolved prior to the injection...

If the swelling persists after a week or so, please see your injector. In the meantime, you can use cool, soft, flexible ice packs (or small packs of frozen peas) to keep the swelling down. Place the ice pack on the treated area(s) for 15-20 minutes at a time, 3 or 4 times per day. Do not keep...

In general, lip augmentation with Radiesse is "frowned upon" due to the potential for lumps and bumps. A filler made of hyaluronic acid (HA), such as Restylane or Juvederm, is better suited for the lips. These fillers can be used to even out deficiencies.  These last for about a year,...
