Thank you for your question. Most of my patients are usually off prescription pain medication within the first few days. I recommend patients get up and walk that first night of recovery. Most patients are ready to return to work in about 10 days after their Mommy Makeover. You will usually want to limit your heavy lifting within the first 6 weeks. Please consult with your surgeon prior to making the decision to go back to work. Best of luck.
Mommy makeover surgery usually involves a breast procedure and a tummy tuck. Generally breast surgery patients require around a week for recovery from normal activities and work. As for the tummy procedure, usually two weeks is needed. Good luck.
It’s very important to understand that each mommy makeover patient heals at her own rate. Individual healing schedules are typically determined by the patient’s overall health before surgery, her adherence to aftercare instructions, and the specifics of the procedures she underwent. However, in my experience, 2 weeks of time off work is generally sufficient, if your mommy makeover included a tummy tuck. Without a tummy tuck, 1 week is usually plenty of time.
Thank you for your question. Every surgeon will have his/her own preferences as to recovery for specific procedures. Normally, patients can return to light activities almost immediately after surgery, normal activities 2 weeks after surgery, and vigorous exercise 4 weeks after surgery. We usually experience a slow steady improvement for 3 months or so after surgery.Combination procedures can give powerful results bsafety is key. You definitely have to choose your surgeon correctly and make sure that he/she has the training and experience to meet your goals with absolute safety. Don’t settle for less than a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with specialized expertise in this procedure.
If the mommy makeover involves a tummy tuck, this is usually the greatest factor which determines your healing schedule. Many patients can drive after about seven days and return to work at about two weeks. You should expect to be sore, but functional, at these times.
Hi! I typically tell my mommy makeover patients that they need to be off work for 10-14 days. Of course this varies on the type of work. Seek a consult with a board certified PS to discuss your goals and go over protocols.
I would ask your PS as this will depend upon your anatomy, the surgeries planned, and the protocols established by your PS. If a tummy tuck is part of the planned operation, the minimum time to return to a sedentary job would be 1 week; lift nothing greater than 10 lbs for the first 6 weeks. You can probably return to nonstrenuous work in 2 weeks and exercise at 6 weeks.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
Different patients end of taking a varied amount of time off following a mommy-makeover. This amount of time will depend on exactly what is done surgically and what kind of work you do. For a breast augmentation and/or a tummy tuck, I usually recommend a minimum of 1 week off of work. Most patients that do breast and tummy surgery at the same time end up taking closer to 2 weeks off of work. The other restrictions I typically recommend include avoidance of strenuous activities for 2 weeks and no heavy lifting for 6 weeks.
This is something you should discuss with your surgeon. For my patients, depending on what type of work they do, I recommend that they plan on being off work for 2 to 3 weeks. Good luck.
Dear R, The term 'mommy make over' relates mostly to tummy tuck and breasts surgery (lift, lift and augmentation, reduction). In my practice I do not recommend to combine the 2 procedures because of the significant increase of severe complication . In a recent article in the plastic surgery journal that was based on data from cosmetic surgery only insurance company, it was revealed that combining tummy tuck with other procedures increases the severe complication risk X 2-3 , in comparison to tummy tuck alone. Tummy tuck and breasts surgery are cosmetic in nature (you want it , but you do not have to have it medically) and as such, complications risks should be reduced to a minimum. You did not provide information in regard to your type of work. For desk work, if you have tummy tuck surgery you may return to work (on average) after one week and if you have breasts surgery, 3-4 days. A return to strenuous activity, requires takes 6 weeks for tummy tuck surgery and one month for breasts surgery. Always, consult with experienced board certified plastic surgeons, who operate in accredited surgery center for your safety. Most importantly, check the before and after pictures in the photo gallery, to make sure that they are numerous, consistent and attractive. Best of luck, Dr Widder
In many cases, both a lift and augmentation together are safe as far as nipple necrosis is concerned. There are factors that can increase the chance of nipple necrosis, such as smoking, diabetes, previous breast surgery, and others. Your plastic surgeon is the best person to determine the safest...
50 cc's of fluid a day is still probably too much, I usually remove the drain when it is less than 25 cc's, continue to follow your PS's advise.
I am not aware of any evidence showing improved recovery of either preop or postop colonic hydrotherapy and TT. Equally I am not aware of any evidence against its use.
