Hair loss in the temporal incision lines can be broken down into a short term and longer time line. This usually means less or greater than 6 months. Hair bearing skin, when surgically elevated can go through a hair loss, hair growth stage over the first 6 months. This is called anagen and telogen. Usually all the hair grows back. If not then a little Latesse can be used on the wound. If the wound remains hairless and one year has past and the skin is loose enough then the scar can be resected and the edges are brought together. If the wound remains to tight then some type of hair replacement technique may be required.
The placement of the incision in a brow lift determines if the hairline is lowered or raised. When the incision is made high in the scalp, then the scar is usually not visible, but the hairline is raised. That can give a telltale sign that someone has had cosmetic surgery (bad cosmtic surgery). I call it a beginner's mistake. I still see too many people with bizarrely large forehands from this type of brow lift. When the incision is made at the hairline, the hairline position can be lowered or left the same. I do about 60% of my brow lifts with hairline incisions, usually to bring the hairline down. Most people's forehead lengthens or has the appearance of being longer with age. To do this technique well, the scar needs to be thin and naturally irregular. It's really hard to give you specific recommendations without pictures.I hope that helped.Best of luck,Mats Hagstrom, M.D.

Thank you for your question about your brow lift.I am not familiar with this approach to a brow lift - which seems very likely to permanently alter the appearance of the eyebrow unnecessarily.I do not do brow lifts above the eyebrow, because the scars always show. Without a photo it is hard...
