I am 3 months post op after gynecomastia surgery with a very experienced surgeon. After a cool shower the results look fantastic as my nipples are completely "tight" and normal looking. Unfortunately when I'm warm and relaxed my nipples seem to protrude. I can go from moobs when I wake up to a fantastic chest 2 minutes later after a cool shower. Will my nipple ever go back to being constantly tight around my pecs and normal looking all or the time? Thanks for any advice
Answer: Nipple Sensation After Gynecomastia Surgery The loss of #sensation is a possible side effect of #gynecomastia surgery. However, as the scar matures, after 6-12 months, it becomes soft, pale, flat, and much less noticeable. You may experience #numbness, tingling, burning, “crawling”, or other peculiar sensations around the surgical area. This is a result of the #healing of tiny fibers which are trapped in the incision site. These symptoms will disappear. Some people are prone to keloids, which is an abnormal scar that becomes prominent. The areas after Gynecomastia Surgery may feel “lumpy” or irregular, and should decreases with time. Often massaging these areas will help soften the scar tissue. Also, the #compression garment helps reduce the swelling, and the longer it is worn, the more quickly you will #heal. It can also assist in the retraction of the skin. If you have any concerns about #healing, its best to ask questions of your surgeon or their nursing staff

Answer: Normal areolar function will persist after gynecomastia excision.
What you're describing is normal physiologic responses in the areola. Whether or not tightness will persist can be determined only after swelling is completely resolved.

Answer: Puffy nipples after surgery
What you are describing is pretty normal. There is a little muscle (called smooth muscle) with the areola skin which surrounds the nipple. When the muscle is relaxed you see the puffiness. When cold, or stimulated, the muscle tightens and flattens the nipple area. If it continues to bother you there is another procedure that can be done but it will place a circular scar around the areola. Wiat it out and see what happens. good luck.

Answer: Nipple Sensation After Gynecomastia Surgery, Will They Ever Stay Tightened? After gynecomastia surgery, changes in nipple sensation are common, but they can vary from person to person. Here are some key points regarding nipple sensation after surgery and whether nipples will stay tightened: 1. Sensation Changes: It's normal to experience temporary changes in nipple sensation after gynecomastia surgery. This can include numbness, tingling, hypersensitivity, or changes in temperature sensation around the nipples. These changes typically improve over time as the nerves regenerate and the tissues heal. 2. Nipple Projection: Gynecomastia surgery can involve techniques to reduce the size of the areola and adjust nipple position and projection. While the surgical techniques used can influence the final appearance of the nipples, it's important to have realistic expectations regarding nipple projection after surgery. 3. Healing Process: The healing process after gynecomastia surgery can take several months, and it's common for the nipples to initially appear flattened or slightly retracted due to swelling and tissue changes. As the swelling resolves and the tissues settle, the nipples may gradually regain some of their natural projection. 4. Scar Tissue: Scar tissue formation around the nipples can also affect their appearance and sensation. Massage techniques and scar management strategies recommended by your plastic surgeon can help minimize scar tissue and promote optimal healing. 5. Individual Variation: Every individual's body responds differently to surgery, so the degree to which nipples stay tightened after gynecomastia surgery can vary. Factors such as skin elasticity, surgical technique, and individual healing characteristics can influence the final outcome. 6. Long-Term Results: In many cases, the nipples will maintain a relatively stable appearance and projection once the healing process is complete. However, it's important to understand that some degree of natural aging and tissue changes may occur over time, which can affect nipple appearance. 7. Follow-Up Care: Regular follow-up appointments with your plastic surgeon are essential for monitoring the healing process and addressing any concerns you may have about nipple sensation or appearance. Your plastic surgeon can provide recommendations based on your specific needs and goals. In summary, changes in nipple sensation and appearance are common after gynecomastia surgery, but they often improve over time as the tissues heal. While nipples may not remain permanently tightened, they can achieve a more aesthetically pleasing appearance with the help of surgical techniques and proper post-operative care.
