I just had breast reduction. I’m 10 days post op. I noticed one of my areolas has darkened a lot. Almost black. I’m worried if it’s dead or a scab?? It’s really dry and peeling a bit. Also will my breast not look so “boxy” over time, will they fill out more or will they stay like this for good??

Hello and  thank you for your question and sharing your photos.There appears to be partial necrosis of the nipple-areola complex on one side. In terms of the shape, as you continue to heal in the several weeks, the bottom of breasts should round up slightly and have a more natural shape.  You should address these concerns with your surgeon. Best,

Your right nipple appears to have what we call "epidermolysis". This occurs when there has been some ischemia but it is only on the skin level. This should get better with some TLC and the shap of your breasts will round out. You also have some glue that is still there from surgery. I would start putting some vaseline or antibiotic ointment over the area at least twice a day. Hopefully you are seeing uour plastic surgeon in follow up soon.
