My nose is asymmetrical. The right tip is smaller and more upturned than the left one. More so when viewed from the side. The left side is more droopy and bulbous. is a closed rhinoplasty possible? Or is there a better procedure to make it more symmetrical?
Answer: Open or closed approach may be considered for rhinoplasty surgery. Whenever we do nasal tip work, we perform an external approach for luxurious visualization of the nasal tip cartilages. This is what we have been doing for 25 years, however, some surgeons perform a closed approach for tip plasty. As long as your rhinoplasty surgeon is reputable, I don't believe the approach matters. Wishing you well moving forward. Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Asymmetry Hi there, It is possible to make the tip less bulbous but everyone has facial asymmetry. It is very difficult to make the nose perfectly symmetrical but it can definitely be improved by doing an open rhinoplasty. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to our office.

Answer: Rhinoplasty Minor degrees of asymmetry are common and not so easy to correct whether rhinoplasty is done open or closed. I’m Not sure it’s worth undergoing surgery in your case for minor asymmetry

Answer: Surgeon not technique While a tip rhinoplasty should certainly be possible with a closed approach, I would recommend you find a surgeon focused on rhinoplasty with great reviews and outcomes and discuss the options with them for achieving your goals.

Answer: Rhinoplasty Hello and thank you for your question. Some surgeons prefer open and some prefer closed. I would advise paying much more attention to your surgeon’s actual real long-term results on their website rather than the specific technique. I always recommend that you carefully evaluate your surgeon’s online before and after gallery on their website for both quality and quantity of results. Make sure that there are hundreds of real before and after pictures which demonstrate long-term follow up results. If your surgeon is posting mostly on table results without real long-term follow up results, that is usually a major red flag. If a surgeon is posting mostly just splint removal day videos without longterm follow-up pictures, that can also be a red flag. Long-term results are much more meaningful than on table results or 1 week post-op results. With good surgical technique, you could have an outstanding result. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G.
