I have fat necrosis from fertility treatments, would Smart Lipo be safe to do in this area?

I have fat necrosis from fertility treatments (progesterone oil shots) and I would like to have laser lipo done near this area. Will laser lipo (Smart Lipo) cause more problems? Can it remove the necrosis? We are also planning on doing another embryo transfer in 10 months and the plastic surgeon said it would be ok to have the lipo.

Smart lipo is good for stubborn areas of fat, but lacks body contouring and shaping. For best results, I recommend a hi definition procedure like VASER liposuction, which can be performed at the same time as a tummy tuck, if there is skin laxity. I use VASER HI DEF with ThermRF and fat grafting to get the most fat removal, skin tightening, contour and definition. This combination will give you the most toned result. An area of previous fat necrosis is reduced to scar tissue over time usually with a small degree of indentation. Liposuction through this area is not a problem. Future injections should be into non- scar tissue for best absorption. Smart lipo causes scarring in the fat layers consistently. Your fertility injections should be placed in an area where no lipo was done if feasible.

smartlipo will not remove fat necrosis but it may help smooth out the area. however you cannot be sure. If you have a hard calcified area of fat necrosis, then Smartlipo will not remove the hard calcified lump. see a board certified plastic surgeon.david berman md
