Can Botox eliminate these forehead lines? (photos)

I used to get Botox consistently but haven’t gotten it in three years. Now I have these lines on My forehead. I’ve heard Botox only works for dynamic wrinkles but I’m hoping these are surface level enough for Botox to eliminate them at rest?

I think that Botox could improve the lines you see across your forehead.  It is also possible that the addition of a surface treatment to the skin could bring additional improvement.  Such treatments would include laser resurfacing and micro needling using radio frequency.

Thank you for your question and photo. Repetitive muscle movements can cause the horizontal forehead creases you’re referring to, and they can deepen over time. Botox injections target the muscles causing these creases by preventing movement of the skin and allowing it to become smoother over time. The results from Botox injections generally last for 3-4 months. 
I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with an experienced, board-certified injector. They will be able to determine the best approach and outline a favorable injection schedule to help you maintain the best outcome.

Neuromodulators (such as Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau) and soft tissue fillers like Belotero can improve the appearance of the forehead by reducing lines, wrinkles and folds. Deeper lines and wrinkles need a combination approach with Botox, fillers, lasers, and microneedling/PRP. Botox is a highly effective and safe method to eliminate forehead wrinkles. You will definitely benefit from Botox for your forehead lines. Your plastic surgeon will inject a toxin into the muscles of your forehead that prevents them from contracting. This prevents wrinkles from appearing. Forehead botox lasts 3 to 4 months. I recommend you repeat the botox treatment every 4 -5 months to prevent deeper lines. Good luck.

Two factors contribute to the development and persistent of wrinkles: the motion of the underlying muscles and the skin etching and creasing that occurs in the overlying fabric of the skin after years of contracting those muscles hundreds to thousands of times per day. From the photos, it appears that the etch marks have already appeared, which means that it is unlikely to respond to simple treatment of the underlying muscles with Botox. Instead, you would likely profit from the injection of a cohesive, low viscosity HA filler to raise and smooth the existing creases, along with continued treatment with neurotoxin to slow the redevelopment of these lines and develop of additonal ones in time. Make sure that you consult an experienced injector, since the forehead is a richly vascular area and requires real expertise for the injections and should not be left to the hands of novice, inexperienced injectors. Botox can definitely smooth out your forehead lines that you get from lifting your brows up. Be aware if you have a small forehead when the muscles are relaxed you may notice that your eyelids look a little heavy. That's because the muscles that allow you to lift are relaxed and therefore the brows drop a bit.

For botox to indirectly improve static lines it needs to be done consistently (every 2.5-3 months) for several sessions.

Good Morning, great question. Botox is used to weaken the muscle that is injected, stopping the muscle from contracting harshly pausing the muscles ability to worsen the existing lines. The goal with botox in that area is to have treatments every 3 months, to allow the collagen to build from behind to buff out surface lines. Practicing consistency every 3 months consists of returning to your injector before botox is all worn off - you should return before 60% of your current botox is worn off, during the time your botox is active it should soften the lines however as stated above, once 40% or less is active you may start yo re-damage the area. As for the surface lines combining other surface treatments will also help speed up the ability to rid/ soften the lines on the forehead. I highly recommend consulting with a board certified physician with experience. Have a great day!

Botulinum toxin (e.g. Botox, Dysport) is effective in treating dynamic wrinkles of the forehead (upper horizontal, and lower frown lines), as well as Crow's feet at the sides of the eyes, among other less commonly treated areas. In your case, we'd expect to see improvement both in the resting position (by reducing resting tension), and certainly during attempted movement.
