I purchased a series of four laser genesis treatments but have not yet begun. They will be administered by a former nurse, but not a doctor. Must she have any sort of minimum training or certification in order to administer the Genesis treatment?

Whoever performs your Laser Genesis, must be certified to operate the particular laser. The Laser operator can be a physician, nurse, esthetician, technician. It is important to have a rapport with whoever will be performing treatments on you.  The treatments are usually 15 minutes each for a total of 6 treatments scheduled 1-3 weeks apart. You should expect to pay a slight premium fee for a physician to perform the laser treatments.

A doctor does not need to do the Laser Genesis.  However, whomever is doing it should be under a physician's supervision and should have received training from Cutera, which is the company that makes the Laser Genesis.

The genesis is a long pulse laser and must be administered properly. The provider must understand the physics behind the system and tissue tolerances. It is true that when you see someone using the system it looks easy but it requires proper administration. It can create burns , scars pigment issues if used incorrectly.
At the minimum they should have the cutera training.
