Hello,Very good question. Although there may be mild improvement with the inflammatory component of rosacea, we believe that the correct wavelength of a laser must be ideal for the patient's skin type and condition. The pulsed dye laser technology (ex: VStar, VBeam) is a wavelength of light that is specifically attracted to the hemoglobin in blood vessels which represents a specific target, specific interaction between the laser and target, and a much better approach for rosacea. However, the skin type/color and type of condition are factors in determing if the PDL technology is ideal. In our practice, the PDL is the gold standard for diffuse redness, followed by our Q-switched YAG laser - nanoseconds versus micro or milliseconds. This two laser approach has been a good treatment plan for rosacea patients.Regards
