I am currently 6 months post op from having a BBL/360. I am a 56yr old women and notice that my lower abdomen is still swollen. I stopped wearing my faja and have been wearing spanx for some sort of compression and to let my body heal natural. Should I continue to wear my faja since I've heard women wear them for a year. Thank you..
Answer: Swelling in lower abdomen Dear Fantastic343232, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Swelling in lower abdomen 6 months post-op, should I continue to wear faja? Hello @Fantastic343232, thank you for your question. I suggest you ask your specialist, because the compression garment depends of multiple things among other the doctor's surgical technique and the type of equipment used to perform the surgery. According to the clinical criteria is the level of compression of the girdle and the period of use. Is important that you take into account that inadequate compression can generate more inflammation. Answer: Results A six months your results have been final for several times. Compression garments have no impact on final outcome. Your results are based on your candidacy for the procedure combined with the skill and expertise of your provider. There are four tissue variables that determine what the abdomen looks like. Those variables are skin laxity (typically based on previous pregnancies or weight loss), excess subcutaneous fat, muscle separation from previous pregnancy, or excess visceral fat. Liposuction only reduces subcutaneous fat. If your abdomen is bulging six months after surgery then there is a good chance there are variables other than subcutaneous fat contributing. To make an assessment we need to see proper before and after pictures. If you don’t have before and after pictures than ask your surgeon to forward the pictures they took. Without pictures we are unable to make an assessment. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
