There is not much evidence on how long to wear a compression garment. It is variable depending on the surgery and patient recovery.

While there is no one correct answer, many surgeons will have a patient wear the garment around the clock for about a week, and then at nighttime for the second week.

A neck lift is performed when there are fat deposits located above and below the platysma muscle, which also includes a platysma plasty. In that case, we place two surgical drains in the neck for two days after the procedure, no garment is necessary. Simple liposuction can only accomplish removal of the fat deposits above the muscle in the neck, and a garment would be acceptable in that case.
