24F with TMJ and I have on deep fold in the nasolabial area only on one side of my face making it very uneven. I am considering Sculptra but think there may be another underlying issue, so I'm not sure it's right. The unevenness doesn't really look like wrinkles. The area between my cheek and upper lip has no volume. And when i feel the area, there is actually a separation in the muscle between my cheek and upper lip area. I'm concerned Sculptra is not right for this.
Answer: HA Filler Works Well For Nasolabial Folds I stopped using Sculptra about eight years ago. It is relatively expensive and does not give immediate results (usually requires three treatment sessions). It's main advantage was that the results could last up to two years. However, with the introduction of more robust HA fillers that were less expensive, yielded longer-lasting results and results that most often could be seen immediately after one treatment, I switched. You would be wise to consult with an experienced, board certified cosmetic dermatologist filler injector and best of luck.

Answer: Sculptra can provide symmetry In my experience it is very common to have a larger volume deficit on one side of the face, compared to the other. This can occur for various reasons. Ideally we would want to identify the underlying issue and determine if it is one we can correct- however for most such cases Sculptra is a good fit for volume restoration and achieving symmetry.

Answer: Laugh Lines / Nasolabial Folds - Fillers + Sculptra, Lasers like Fraxel/Clear + Brilliant, Radiofrequency, Peels, Skin Care I recommend fillers to soften the nasolabial folds themselves and also lift around the mouth and cheeks to build underlying anatomical support. In our practice we combine Sculptra with other fillers "layered" on top and lasers, skin tightening treatments such as Thermage, Fractora, and Renuvion (J Plasma), thread lifting, and peels to get the most conservative, natural look. I suggest seeing a facial sculpting expert for a formal consultation. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Sculptra/TMJ Based on your description, it's possible that the asymmetry in your nasolabial area may be related to your TMJ condition. The TMJ joint connects the lower jaw to the skull, and any issues with this joint can affect the muscles and tissues around the jaw and mouth, including the nasolabial area. It's important to consult with a qualified medical professional, such as a plastic surgeon or dermatologist, who can evaluate your specific case and determine the underlying cause of your asymmetry. They may also recommend the most appropriate treatment options for you. Sculptra is a dermal filler that is typically used to add volume to the face, including the cheeks and temples. However, if the asymmetry in your nasolabial area is due to an underlying muscle separation, Sculptra may not be the best option for correcting it. In this case, other treatment options, such as surgery or Botox injections, may be more effective. Again, it's important to consult with a qualified medical professional who can evaluate your specific case and recommend the most appropriate course of action. They can also discuss any potential risks or side effects of the treatment options they recommend. Best of luck !

One nasolabial fold is always deeper than the other and trying to create symmetry can result in overcorrection. HA fillers are probably your best option to start with.
