Wearing sunglasses after rhinoplasty. Is this normal?

Hello,It is not common for pain to occur that quickly after wearing sunglasses. Your nose should be fully healed after a year since your surgery. Hello, It is ok to wear glasses after a rhinoplasty, provided you give your bones and tissues enough time to heal. 1 year is more than enough. I usually tell my patients 6 weeks. It is normal for it to be a bit sore the first couple of times you start wearing sunglasses.

My protocol is no glasses for 6-8 weeks after rhinoplasty, as I have seen glasses pinching the nasal bones leaving permanent impressions. If glasses are a must, then the lightest frame with good padding should be used to avoid this problem. It is not common to have pain and discomfort from wearing glasses 1 year after the surgery. These symptoms may be related to residual bone or skin hypersensitivity postoperatively. I would suggest to gradually increase the use of glasses as tolerated; the use of anti inflammatory medications may also help alleviate the symptoms (unless you have contraindications to the use of those).
