Why does the areola of black women tend to look so much darker and "funky" looking? (photo)

I'm a brown woman and try to look at before and after pics of brown breasts. It seems as if when the nipple is repositioned it changes color... When I get my BL, is this something I should worry about? Are the pics I'm seeing too early in post op ? I like (LOVE) my coloring, I'd really like to keep it...
