Does SculpSure cause nausea? is there a time period where I should start becoming concerned?

I had SculpSure done a week ago and am still very swollen, and have been nauseated off and on as well, particularly at night or if anything is pressing along my stomach, like after I massage it. Is that normal? The swelling doesn't seem to have been reducing either.

Thank you for your question. SculpSure does not have nausea as a side effect. Patients may feel some tenderness but this side effect typically subsides within a few days. Most patients can expect to see fat reduction results in 6 to 12 weeks. I suggest that you discuss with your board certified facial plastic surgeon and team.

SculpSure will not cause nausea.  You may have some other condition causing your discomfort.  Make sure you are not pregnant and see your doctor.

This would be an unusual occurrence following sculpsure. However, with swelling and some discomfort, this could cause some nausea. This should resolve over the next week. If this does not improve, please see your doctor for evaluation.

Sculpsure shouldn’t cause nausea. Afterwards most people will feel a little sore, almost as if they worked out too hard. The muscles and fat may feel hard, and tender to the touch. Any GI distress may be related to something else, which you may want to speak to your Internist about.

I am so sorry to hear that you've been feeling nauseous. SculpSure does not cause nausea. It is also unusual to still be tender and/or swollen a week after treatment. There should be no association with your recent SculpSure treatment and nausea.  Some patients note that they feel a little cramping sensation during the treatment, but they feel nothing after the treatment is completed.  And it takes up to 12 weeks to see the final result of each treatment, so be patient.  Most patients need 2 treatments 6 weeks apart to achieve an optimal result.

Hi. Sculpture can cause tenderness in some people that can last a couple of weeks. I have seen it more so when the lower abdomen is treated. Sometimes this type of discomfort can cause nausea. It is important to check with your doctor who treated you and your primary care provider if the nausea continues. This will all resolve and you will love your results. Feel better.

Both nausea and swelling after SculpSure are unusual, but also self limiting.  You are still very early after your treatment, these symptoms will resolve quickly.  I would recommend treating the nausea with some anti-nausea medications and either heat or cold packs to the tummy, whichever feels better to help with the swelling and discomfort.Good Luck!

ordinarily these do not happen and the swelling is hard to explain as well as the pain. Something is different about you and your reaction to the treatment and should be mentioned to your provider. It isn't normal.

Temporary swelling can occur, although uncommonly, after sculpsure treatments.  I have had a couple patients who experienced prolonged swelling for 3 weeks after treatment but eventually it did dissipate and they were very happy with results.  Nausea is an even more uncommon side effect.  I would consult with the treating physician to ensure you do not have an underlying hernia.  The laser only targets the superficial subcutaneous fat and therefore risk of damage to deeper structures is negligible.  If you had more than one area treated the same day and experienced significantly inflammation this could in theory cause mild nausea.  However I would speak to the treating physician to ensure all is well.
