What are the overall risks associated with a small area liposuction over the pubic bone? What are the pros and cons? What recovery time should one expect? Thanks so much! :)
Answer: Liposuction Risks and Recovery Londonprincess. I appreciate your concern, but liposuction around pubic region carries no increased risks. I usually use smaller caliber cannulas to allow me to sculpt the region nicely without skin irregularities. The pro of this operation is improved contour of the region, and there really aren’t any cons that I can think of, other than cost. Recovery from this procedure will probably require one or two days off from work and strenuous activities, however you should be able to return to normal activities within one week. Come see me or another board-certified plastic surgeon in the area for a full of evaluation and expiration of the best options for you. Good luck.

Answer: Pubic/mons lipo Thanks for the question, the area over the pubic bone is called the mons. I treat this frequently. On the day of the procedure we give oral sedation so you are comfortable, we than bring you into our fully accredited operating room and gently place numbing fluid under the skin into the fat. Once numb I use ultrasound energy to melt the unwanted excess fat, I feel that step is essential for this tough to treat area. I than gently remove the fat and place you in a garment. Pain and downtime is minimal, the one thing that is essential to know is that in this area the lymphatic drainage is poor and many times the genitals in either sex can swell for a few days (its totally normal but always good to know before hand!)Would be happy to see you

Answer: Thank you for your question. Unfortunately there are no pictures. I would assume you are asking about liposuction over the mons pubis. A number of women, especially after they have a tummy tuck, would like to have this area suctioned. As with any procedure, there is a risk for bleeding and infection. There are many different techniques when performing liposuction. I like combining ultrasonic assisted liposuction (which I have lectured on nationally and internationally) which “melts” the fat with the Vibrastat (which is a fairly new high tech device for performing liposuction, please see the video on our page ). I incorporate the SAFE technique, which Dr. S. Wall invented. This helps to get a smoother result with less bleeding. I would strongly recommend to have liposuction with a board certified plastic surgeon (versus a non plastic surgeon who has not been properly trained when performing this surgery). The oldest patient I have performed liposuction on is a 78 year old. I hope you find this information useful. Please watch the enclosed video.

Answer: Lipo over pubic area It’s a small procedure with post op swelling and a relatively brief recuperation. It’s unusual to have excess fat solely in this area so an exam would be necessary to evaluate your situation.

Answer: Pubic liposuction Dear Londonprincess,Thank you for your question. Liposuction to a small rea such as the mons pubis coes have some risks, but in genral they are not severe. As with anuy proceudr eyou should choodea surgoen who is experienced in the procedure-they should be able to show you several befor and after photos. The surgoen shoudl take time with you, answer all your questiions and explain the procedur ein detail. Teh risks include over resectin of fat that could result in ptosis of the skin-drooping, removing fat too close to the skin resulting in contour irregularities. Because it is not a large aea unless you a significant amount of fat there the contour change will be more subtle than in other areas. Hoep htis helps & good luck.James Sheridan, MD
