I had liposuction to my flanks and abdominal area 12 days ago. The surgeon is insisting on a no carb (including complex carbs), high protein diet for 6 weeks. Is there any evidence for this?

However the diet described by your surgeon, also known as the Atkins diet, is somewhat controversial. I have some of those areas!! Your post op garment may help remind you to not eat as much food and most diet plans promote a no to low carb diet. Best wishes
