Breast cysts can be removed during surgery, but finding them is not as easy as it sounds. Cysts generally do NOT require surgery, but a simple aspiration procedure that a breast surgeon or radiologist can do without surgery at all. Be sure to discuss your goals and concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon and consider the pros and the cons. Be certain your surgeon is properly certified. I've attached a link where you can start your search.
Yes, this can likely be removed during surgery. All of the excised breast tissue is sent to Surgical Pathology and evaluated for cancer. I recommend an in-office examination as well as a detailed discussion with a surgeon who you are comfortable with. Finally, make sure your surgeon is a Double-Board Certified Plastic Surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS) and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS).Best,Dr. DesaiBeverly Hills Institute for Aesthetic Plastic SurgeryHarvard Educated, Beverly Hills & Miami Beach Trained, Double-Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
It may be possible to remove a breast cyst during breast reduction surgery. You will need to have the appropriate diagnostic tests prior to the surgery and discuss your options with your board ceritfied plastic surgeon.
Yes, generally speaking, benign lesions such as cysts or fibroadenomas can be removed at the time of elective breast surgery. It will be important that the lesion be definitively shown to be benign prior to proceeding; it will also be important that the lesion be palpable, so that your surgeon is able to locate it during surgery. Best wishes for an outcome that you will be very pleased with.
ThanksA breast cyst can be removed at the time of a breast reduction surgery. It is possible that you have gone through a process of diagnosis by Scans. biopsy of this lump. If not, it is critical that this lump/cyst needs to be investigated and the diagnosis confirmed before breast reduction surgery. Best wishes
A known cyst can be removed during the reduction. However, the mass should be fully diagnosed in advance. You may need mammography/sonography to better define the mass. If it is a mass, not a cyst, then it should be biopsied and reduction deferred pending pathology. Best wishes.
If you have a lump in your breast, then you are probably best off to have that biopsied first before undergoing a breast reduction. Best of luck.
Thank you for your question and for your photos. I am sorry to hear that this is happening to you after surgery. This area after surgery can be a problem due to where the incision was placed. I would advise you to follow up with your surgeon. I hope this information helps.
