Help! I am so frustrated. I am 3 1/2 weeks out from breast reductions with TT and had kept it taped like I was told and then noticed yesterday that the right incision has opened. My dr says to just keep it clean and dry. I would like a second opinion. This is the second area that has not healed properly. Why is this happening?

Answer: Incision openings Incisions that meet in corners like a T or at the top of a lollipop arrangement, get less circulation than the rest of the incision so they are more likely to heal slowly. Circulation is the key to healing. Breast reduction and tummy tuck involve reducing the circulation due to the removal and rearrangement of the tissues. The larger the reduction and the thicker the tissues, the more strained the circulation will be as well. I agree with your surgeon's advice to keep this opening clean and dry. As the circulation grows back your wound will heal and I think you will be surprised how good the scar looks.
