1 month post op liposuction on neck I started to get pimples on my neck and face. Is this normal?

I recently got liposuction on my neck (double chin) and about a month after the surgery I started to get pimples in my neck and face. Is it normal ? Has it anything to do with the liposuction? Have in mind I never in my life used to get pimples

Occurrence of pimples has nothing to do with the lipo.  Stress of surgery may cause hormonal changes that could be the culprit.  Should go away on their own, but if not, follow up with your PS to discuss side effects of any medications, soaps, or scar creams you are using.Kenneth Hughes, MD, ABPS Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

StefaniI am sorry to hear you are having this issue. Photos would help, however it sounds like you may be having an allergic reaction either to the elastic garment that your surgeon may have recommended after surgery. Sometimes topical antibiotic or scar cream can also cause an allergic reaction. Discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon. Good luck.

you should confirm that this is acne and not another skin condition.  Consider posting photos or better yet follow up with the Doctor Who did your procedure.  Acne breakouts are not typical after liposuction but can happen for a variety of reasons.  Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
