Muscle spasm or nerve damage after fat transfer?

I had fat transfer done 2 weeks ago to my hips only and for couple of days now when I get up from a sitting position to walk I get this shocking feeling in my right thigh where I had the fat transfer. What could be the cause of this and is it normal?

Swelling after fat transfer can last 3-6 months but often is just a few weeks. Antihistamines, diuretics and oral steroids can help swelling. I recommend following up with your Dr. about after care. I also recommend prp and sculptra injections to maintain results. Best, Dr. Emer

I am concerned about the long-term results of fat transfer to the face. Is it really permanent?

Fat grafting results and longevity depends on surgeon's technique and the quality of fat that is harvested. Addition of PRP which is enriched with growth factors will help survival of grafted fat. I have written a paper in 2005 reviewing 500 patients using PRP with fat grafting.

I recommend following your Dr's protocols. If you're concerned that your exercise regimen is too rigorous right now, maybe adjust it for a few more weeks until your comfortable. If you remain concerned, contact your Dr.  Best, Dr. Emer
