Does micro needling, derma pen cause hyperpigmentation on color skin if used to treat fine lines and skin texture? How often would one have a treatment and how many treatments would be needed? Ths
Answer: Hyperpigmentation and Fine Lines Micro-Needling when performed correctly should not cause any harm, specifically hyperpigmentation to the skin. You will want to make sure you have a provider who is familiar with all skin types. Best wishes.

Answer: Micro-needling and color skin One of the benefits of micro-needling is that it is safe for all skin types. Unlike laser, which can be challenging for darker skin due to post-inflammation hyperpigmentation, micro-needling is not associated with that. For optimal results, 3-5 sessions are typically recommended one month apart and repeated annually. In addition to Dermapen, I like to inject PRP (platelet-rich plasma) under the skin to further stimulate collagen production. Platelet is a very potent growth factor. To collect the PRP, 10-20 cc of blood is drawn and centrifuged. The blood cells are discarded, while the serum is collected into syringes for injection, which is also safe as the serum comes from the patient. Patient should also have a home regimen to continue the collagen stimulation. A decent home regimen should include retinoid, growth factor, anti-oxidant serum, hyaluronic acid moisturizer, and SPF of at least 30.

Answer: Microneedling and Hyperpigmentation Microneedling is generally safe for everyone, even forindividuals with skin of color. It is very safe and effective. It is minimallyinvasive and comes with very little to no risks for undesirable after effects. At most, you will be able to experience some redness and/or swelling, but thesewill subside on their own as these are only after effects brought about by thetiny punctures made from the fine needles of microneedling devices. These willnot promote hyperpigmentation or the likes. The number of microneedling treatment sessions neededfor managing fine lines and skin texture would depend your doctor’s evaluation of your case. Generally speaking, you mayneed 4 to 6 treatment sessions spaced out one month apart from each other. Toknow exactly how much you need, you have to consult a board certified plasticsurgeon who will do evaluation as well as create a treatment plan for you. Hopethis helps!

Answer: Micro-needling in skin of color Medical micro-needling is quite safe for skin of color and, when used in conjunction with human growth-factor serums, is often an effective treatment for hyperpigmentation. To get the best results from micro-needling I recommend an initial series of four monthly treatments. During each treatment, my staff uses a concentrated human growth factor serum to further enhance the results. We use the ProCell Therapies system which combines motorized micro-needling with concentrated human growth factor serums made from human stem cells. We also have our patients apply a growth factor serum at home to not only maintain the results but to give continued improvement as well.
