I metabolize Radiesse too quickly. Are there other fillers that are not metabolized as quickly?

Question

I have wasted countless money on radiesse for jaw contouring and it's only lasted maybe 2 months at most. Doctor said it's because I work everyday and have a fast metabolism (I am 22). Are there other fillers that I may not metabolism as quickly?

Radiesse is made out of calcium. If you are metabolizing Radiesse too quickly, you may want to look into the possibility that your body is hungry for calcium. You may want to look into getting a bone density scan to make sure that you don't have osteoporosis or osteopenia.  As for looking for a different filler, in your case, trying a hyaluronic acid filler like Restylane Lyft or Juvederm Voluma may be a better choice if the body is metabolizing calcium too quickly. Collagen stimulating agents such as Sculptra or Bellafill or even a fat transfer may be other options to consider.

Radiesse generally does work well to augment the jaw.  The longevity of the result can be influenced by how much is used.  Radiesse is a relatively firm filler, which is why it works well to augment the jaw. There are some other fillers that could last longer, but they may not be as firm.  Some other longer lasting fillers would include Voluma, Sculptra and Bellafill.

At the age of 22, you likely do not have significant "facial aging". Perhaps you were getting cheek augmentation with Radiesse - Radiesse may last the longest out of the temporary fillers. I suspect that the filler is still there and not metabolised. The body will take about two years to remove the calcium microspheres. However because you are very young and your face has a good tissue tone to it, I suspect that the filler is just not working to change the shape of your face. You may try another filler although it is likely that you experience the same thing - lack of result.

If Radiesse gets dissolved quickly then I would absolutely try Restylane Lyft, Voluma or Sculptra.  The benefit of one of these other fillers is that they are thick and can last longer.  In addition, Sculptra produces new collagen and can last more than two years.  Please consult a board certified dermatologist who is an expert in cosmetic injections. Given that any filler is short term and not fully predictable as to contour and even the quantity required to achieve any effect; we more commonly use contoured strips of eg gortexlike material along the bone which permanently changes/enhances the definition of the jawline. Certainly, fillers can work but are quite expensive in the long run
