Will repeated injections of Radiesse build volume at the mandibular angle past the 18-month mark?

Radiesse does work well to augment the jawline, but the effect is temporary and is normally gone after a year or so. Longer lasting alternatives would be Sculptra or Bellafill, which are stimulating agents.  

Radiesse will contour the jawline but 18 months or so would be about all one could expect for duration.  IN answer to your question, repeated Radiesse injections will repeatedly build volume. Bellafill is labeled the 5 year filler.  In my experience it does not last as long as advertised but should last longer than Radiesse theoretically since you are opposed to surgery.

Thank you for your question. If you are looking for a long term strengthening of the jaw line I generally recommend using Bellafill. Radiesse is an excellent choice giving a 12-18 month result with a high G' (lifting capacity) value but if you are looking for long term results that you can build on I would recommend Bellafill. While the cost upfront will be higher, the longer term investment will be less. Bellafill contains bovine collagen with PMMA particles dispersed in the collagen. Over 2-4 weeks the bovine collagen is broken down by your body as the PMMA particles begin stimulating production of your own collagen. Thanks for your question.  Radiesse does stimulate collagen, according to the manufacturers, and does give a nice correction of the jawline, but probably doesn't last long enough to make a huge difference on its own.  Fortunately you could always do some treatments and add more or do a different procedure if you need something more robust, which is the beauty of most fillers - they give you some temporary improvement without being too much of a long term commitment or risk of aging badly around something more permanent.  Choose an experienced board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon who is skilled in facial injections and knows the anatomy and safety precautions well, and you will have your best outcome.   Good luck!

Radiesse is an excellent choice as a filler for the Jaw line. It has a very high G-Prime (stiffness) and it can help create a more defined jaw line and chin. In general the treatment lasts 12-18 months. It does have some mild collagen stimulating effect so with repeat treatments there can be some permanent change. Sculptra is a better collagen stimulating injectable treatment but it takes several treatments to obtain the desired result.

While Radiesse does produce some collagen stimulation, the effect is not permanent and is usually quite mild. The primary effects of Radiesse are through its direct addition of volume. Radiesse is an excellent product for use in mandibular contour modifications, but it does need to be injected every year or two in most people. Alternative fillers include Voluma, Restylane Lyft (both hyaluronic acid fillers) and Bellafill (which contains polymethylmethacrylate microspheres and last up to 5 years). PLLA and PDO threads, which also stimulate collagen, have been used, as well, but the effects are gone within a couple years.
