I do not want implants at the mandibular/gonial angle, but I would like to strengthen my jawline, ideally without repeating treatments for life. I have heard that Radiesse may stimulate collagen, but I am not certain if this effect is significant enough to give real volume at the gonial angle. Is it possible to build volume in this area just from the collagen-stimulating effects of Radiesse? If not, are there any safe, non-surgical alternatives with a lasting effect?

Answer: Jaw line strengthening Thank you for your question. If you are looking for a long term strengthening of the jaw line I generally recommend using Bellafill. Radiesse is an excellent choice giving a 12-18 month result with a high G' (lifting capacity) value but if you are looking for long term results that you can build on I would recommend Bellafill. While the cost upfront will be higher, the longer term investment will be less. Bellafill contains bovine collagen with PMMA particles dispersed in the collagen. Over 2-4 weeks the bovine collagen is broken down by your body as the PMMA particles begin stimulating production of your own collagen. I have patients over a decade out with a lasting effect from their Bellafill (formerly Artefill).I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore.

Answer: Continued effects of Radiesse Thanks for your question. Radiesse does stimulate collagen, according to the manufacturers, and does give a nice correction of the jawline, but probably doesn't last long enough to make a huge difference on its own. Fortunately you could always do some treatments and add more or do a different procedure if you need something more robust, which is the beauty of most fillers - they give you some temporary improvement without being too much of a long term commitment or risk of aging badly around something more permanent. Choose an experienced board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon who is skilled in facial injections and knows the anatomy and safety precautions well, and you will have your best outcome. Good luck!
