Hello, I had lip fillers done 2 weeks and a half ago which resulted in a bruise on the right side of my lower lip. Since then a lump formed in that area and won't go away. It's been over 2 weeks and the bruise is gone so I'm worried it just settled there forever. It's only visible when I smile but I feel very self conscious about it. Do you know what could be done to make it disappear? Or do you think it's the bruise and it will eventually go away? Thank you
Answer: Lip Filler Hello,Thank you for your question and photo. Bumps can arise with lip filler. Sometimes the injector needs to squeeze the bump and it will subside. Other times, it needs to be injected with Vitrase to dissolve it. Please consult with the physician who injected you to determine the best way to address your concern. Good luck!

Answer: Lip Correction 2 weeks is typically a sufficient amount of time for swelling and bruising to subside. If the filler that you received was a hyaluronic acid based filler then you have the option of completely reversing the treatment with Hyaluronidase. Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that catalyses the degradation of hyaluronic acid.Your physician can also smooth out the lumps and bumps with small amounts this dissolving solution. You definitely have options, and I would recommend that you see your physician to discuss these options as soon as possible.

Answer: Lip Filler and Lumps A hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with an injection of Vitrase. If you have significant swelling or bruising it can take a bit longer for it to go away. Please consult a board certified dermatologist who has experience with cosmetic injections with lip injections. Best, Dr. Green

Answer: Lum The beauty of hyaluronic acid fillers (i.e. Restylane, Juvederm, etc) is that they are adjustable. If we have a bump or an irregularity, we can go back with a small enzyme injection called Hyaluronidase and make that bump go away almost immediately. That being said, it is pretty common to have some lip swelling after injection and it can often take about 2 weeks to settle down. I recommend following up with an experienced injector to determine if this is swelling or too much filler. Best of luck!

Answer: Lumps and Bumps after lip fillers, dissolve or wait? Lumps and bumps can happen after lip fillers. Almost all can be treated and dissolved without too much additional work. For lips I like the Juvederm Vollure, Volbella or Ultra or Restylane Refyne and Defyne. It all depends on what results you are looking for. It takes close to two weeks for everything to settle into place. And only then can you evaluate if you would need to use hyaluronidase to help reduce the filler. The lips are a particularly challenging area to inject because you'll talk and use muscle movement immediately following injections. There are special massaging techniques to reduce the formation of lumps. I also recommend a lot of icing and Arnica following injections. Best wishes from Boston!
