You should wait at least 10 months before your next procedure. You should speak with your surgeon and have him/her examine your donor area.
For the second operation you should wait 10-12 months. After than you can speak with your doctor about your donor area and the healing time.
It all depends where the grafts from the second transplant are going. For vertex cases, we generally want to wait a minimum of 12 months before transplanting into the vertex a second time. For frontal forelock and hairline cases, 10 months is fine. If the grafts are going to a place that has not received grafts in the past, then anytime is ok.
Thank you for the post. We typically ask our patients to wait atleast 12 months before getting another procedure. Only because full results can take up 14 months to achieve, and by 12 months you are near full growth and safer to have a second FUE procedure.
Ten months after is ok, unless you are older than 60 years old, in which case 12 months is recommended. If grafts are planned for an area that is virgin (no previous grafts) then it is ok to transplant at any interval.
I recommend waiting a full year before doing another FUE transplant because you are able to see the full results of the previous transplant and allow for better planning of where to "spend" the remaining budget of grafts. However 10 months is safe to have another transplant in most cases. It is safe to transplant in to a completely separate area after 6 months. It is best to schedule a consultation and assessment with a hair transplant specialist in order to make the right decision.
The second FUE can be done after 8 months when most of the hair has grown; however, be aware about the limits to how many FUE grafts your donor area will support without being over-harvested (see below) which defines that limit
It takes 4-6 months for hair your hair transplanted to grow. At 8 months, 80% of the transplanted hairs should grow. By the 12 month mark, you should achieved full growth.
Follow up with your doctor and follow your doctor's recommendations. Post-operative care instructions differ between surgeons.
As of now, it does look like that there is a difference in the residual density of hair on both the sides but you should wait for three to four months before knowing what will be the actual look of both the areas.
